Christmas in Our Hearts!

Christmas is a Christian Festival when the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated. It is celebrated on the 25th of December.
Christmas is the time when Christians are being busy in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ; they prepare foods during midnight while waiting for Christmas; boys and girls go caroling to every house; some even play firecrackers and fireworks; family, relatives and friends are exchanging gifts and cards. Happiness is in the air. But the true meaning of Christmas is not about the money, the gifts, the firecrackers or not even the fireworks. The true spirit of Christmas is being with our love ones, sharing our love to everyone; forgiving those who committed sins to us, sharing our love and blessings and thanking God for everything we have and thanking Jesus Christ from saving us from our sins.
Christmas is the day wherein we need to be grateful for our wonderful blessings. Wherein we need to extend the blessing we are receiving from God to those who are less fortunate. We need to give our love to everybody. And when this happens, when we let every single one of us be happy, then it is when Christmas is truly in our hearts. But it should not only done during Christmas, let us make everyday a Christmas. Always remember that Christmas is not about opening presents, but the truth is it about opening our hearts.

Abnormality! Why?

Nothing is permanent in this world except change.
Climate change is the abnormal raising and falling of weather conditions. It is caused by the thinning of the ozone layer which has the ability to trap the heat coming from the sun and control the distribution of heat around the globe. The thinning of the ozone layer is caused by some of natural phenomenon like the volcanic eruption but it is mostly caused by human activities; like smoke belching, burning plastics or any hazardous materials, cutting of trees without replacing it and many more. The smokes of our vehicles or the factories and even a burning plastic or any hazardous material can caused the thinning of ozone layer because of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and because we are cutting trees without replacing it, there are only few plants to absorb this carbon dioxide to save our planet. Climate change causes many problems like increasing in the earth’s temperature, melting of the glaciers and snowy area of some country, even the snowy peak of some mountains are diminishing; but the most dangerous is the melting of some of our icy continents because this  causes the sea level to raise which can also cause tsunami or floods.
So let us be conscious of what we do because every single time we abuse or harm our nature it is when our end is fast approaching. I say to you today my friends, even though we are facing difficulties in our environment, we can still raise and fight to save our Mother Earth. J

“Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities”

Tall or small; Black or white; Rich or poor; Man or woman; every single one of them are equal in the eye of God. All of us are created equal, so we have equal rights and equal opportunities. No one is at the top and no one is at the bottom.
At present, one problem against equality is about gender discrimination. Woman are now starting to rise and now gaining their rightful place in our society. They are now starting to claim their rights as a human being, well it’s because they are now starting to realize that they can also do what man are capable with. It’s not true that woman is weaker than man; it’s not true that man is higher than woman. We are only saying that because of this what we call gender stereotype, where in our mind is set that man is stronger than woman: that they are more capable. But we are all equal and it is possible that woman can beat a man. All we need is enough education and strength.
Another problem about discrimination is between the rich and poor people, some or maybe most of us is thinking that there is no equality between rich and poor people. Well it’s because of the idea that the rich people are using their money to have what they want without even thinking or minding that they are stepping on someone’s rights; they are using their money to escape from the reality that all of us are equal; and because some people are being blind by bribery. Equality between rich and poor people seems not really present because of selfishness, so the only answers to this problem are education, self-discipline and trust to the God.

I say to you today my friends, even though you are small or tall; black or white; rich or poor; man or woman: I still believe that we are all created equal so we have equal rights and equal opportunities. And I wish that one day equality will dominate the world and especially the heart of every living mankind. We can make it possible because we have all equal rights and equal opportunities and with God everything is possible. J

“Going Global Through English Language”

Global communication? Is it possible? How?

Now in modern days, global communication is expanding easily by the help of technologies. It is possible to every single one of us to communicate worldwide. How? It’s easy! The solution for us to communicate and understand each other is by using a global language. Global language is a language that is recognized and easily understood by people around the globe. And that is the English Language. It is mostly used in the Internet, business, education, computers and news. With the presence of this language we are able to communicate with other nations for many purposes like business transactions or politics or even just a simple friendly communication. So let us practice ourselves in using English Language to be more fluent. English is the answer for world peace because by this language we can able to communicate worldwide and have a beautiful relationship with other country.

It is obvious today that English is going global and it is making our life easier so let us give importance to this language for it is the key of a wonderful life. J

“Damage Have Been Done”

The end of my high school life is fast approaching. It’s passing just like the wind. Sad to say, the first semester of my last school year as a high school student is now over. L

Second quarter was a tough one. It was very hard especially in our way of managing our time because during this quarter there are so many school activities and competitions that caused me to be like a busy bee. First in the list was the science month celebration wherein we joined the collage making contest and the trash-on show that caused us to excuse in some of our classes just to finish our collage and most especially my gown for the trash-on show; Next was the Provincial Speech Choral Competition held at UNP that caused us to have practices during our Filipino class and 4-5 PM class and because of this we didn’t have enough time to finish some unfinished businesses in our ICT class and during the contest, there were only 3 competing schools and we won the 3rd place but at list we gave our best shot and maybe it was not really meant for us to win; And lastly, the Teacher’s Day Celebration. Our teachers deserve a break so during that day some students were assigned to be substitute teachers but in our class instead of having classes, we were busy preparing for our gifts as a sign of our ‘thank you’ to our teachers and we were also busy practicing our songs and we, some of the CAT officers, were also busy roaming around the campus just to make sure every section was having their classes regularly.

Time management is a challenging task so if you’re asking about my 2nd quarter grades, the only thing I’m sure about is that damage have been done. Whatever the result will be, I can’t change anything about it. Acceptance and to work more to improve my grades in the preceding quarters are the only solutions. We can't just stay where we are now; we need to lift our foot to take the next stepping stone of our life to reach our desired dreams.  Life is too short to be rude with everything so sit back, relax and have just fun. J

“Iyan Ang Guro Ko!”

Education is the key to success and we can’t achieve a high education status without the help of our teachers, so we must be thankful to have them.

Since we entered Kindergarten they became our second parents. We spend most of our time in school so this only means that we are spending more time with our teachers than with our parents so teachers have a great influence in a student as well as our parents. If there is no teachers there will be no doctors that can cure sick people, no business man that keeps our economy moving, there will be no responsible politicians that can lead our country, no police and soldiers that can protect us from danger, no lawyers that can fight for our rights as a human being, no architect and engineers that builds buildings, there will be no teachers that can teach students of the next generations and there will be no responsible workers that keeps our country a nice place to live if not because of the effort that our teachers giving to us.

Teachers are heroes. They are the reason why we have a beautiful country. If not because of them we cannot be able to reach our goals in life and most especially we cannot have a happy life if our teachers did not work hard enough in teaching and molding us to become a responsible and successful citizen. They are part of my life. And I am proud to have teachers who are really devoted in giving services just to make sure we are learning. IYAN ANG GURO KO! Si MA’AM! SI SIR! LAGING WAGI! J

“Unravel The Causes, Build The Solutions, Encourage Science Clubbers To Action.”

Nowadays our society is very high-tech. Almost all the works we need to do is done by machines which is product of science. And because of this our nature is now being destroyed. We need to do something.

Let us work together hand in hand to enlighten everyone’s mind about the causes of our nature’s destruction. Let us make them see it by their own naked eyes to realize what damages we have done to our dear mother earth. Let’s think together for solutions like cleaning our bodies of water, segregating garbage, planting trees, recycling materials, conserving water and energy, avoid using vehicles that can give odorous and black smokes and many more. These are just some solutions to our problems. There’s a lot more, so think and act now and save our nature.

Let us bring back our healthy mother earth. Let us work together for a better future. Start now and make changes. J

A True Modern Day Hero

Since I was born, he’s always there beside me, helping me grow and learn. He’s there whenever I’m sad or glad. He’s protective and he doesn’t let me fall on the ground. He’s always there ready to catch me. He is my DAD and he is my HERO!

My dad may not be as powerful as a politician, as brave as a police man, as smart as the smartest man, or in short he may not be the greatest man, for me he’s my #1. He may not be tall, white, or even have a perfect body like Superman still I am not ashamed of him because for me he’s the best. He’s my hero, if not because of him I won’t be able to live, I won’t be healthy, I won’t be happy, I won’t be contented, I won’t be educated and most of all, if not because of him I won’t be ME, Jolina Cabida Luna, a girl with ambitions in life.

I owe my life to my father and I love him. I am proud of my father. He’s a TRUE modern day HERO. You should also be proud of your Dad. J

Buwan ng Wika

Every year, during the month of August which is also called "Buwan ng Wika", all the Filipinos celebrate to give importance and to improve more the usage of our national language. And every year there are different themes for the "Buwan ng Wika" and this year's theme is "WIKA NATIN ANG DAANG MATUWID".

The Filipino language is our instrument in understanding each other. This is key why we, the Filipinos, are united which caused the improvement of our country. The Filipino language is the symbol of our freedom because a free country has its own language, unlike when our ancestors were under the Spaniards where in they were force to speak Spanish so that the Spaniards can understand them. That is why we need to treasure and be glad for our Filipino language as a real Filipino. There's no other person that can improve our own language than we, all the Filipinos, that is why let us help each other hand in hand in retaining and improving our Filipino language.

My Reflection Towards the First Grading Period

CRINGGGGG!!!!! "All right class, pass now your test papers, your exam is now over." --- And that is how everything came to end.

Time runs fast isn't it? It was just like yesterday when we came back in our Alma Matter after a long vacation but look how fast the time goes, the first quarter of the school year had officially ended; the last First Grading Period of my high school life is over, which only means that now I only have three more grading periods before I will be totally bidding my god bye to my Alma Matter, which is quite hard for me to digest. First Grading Period is over and I can't do anything but to accept it and just cherish all the lessons I learned like the Timeline of Internet, Different People Who Contributed in the Field of Internet, How to create a Blog Account and How to post in your Blog, and many more. I am glad that my knowledge about internet was expanded, though during the First Grading Period I encountered some problems like those times where in we were required to be excused in our class which caused us to be left behind in our lessons but because I don't want to fail in our ICT class I reviewed my notes for I not to get a low score in our Periodical Test. Another problem was the Nutri-Jingle competition, at first there where no cooperation in our group during our practices that caused me to cry because I can't see any improvement in our performance but after that their souls were awakened and they started working responsibly. I was so glad which caused me to be inspired in performing during the competition. We may not be the winner but at least we know deep in ourselves that we did our very best and it's not a reason for us to be sad and disappointed, because if you know that you gave your very best during a contest and you were able to make the audience happy, you will not regret for anything instead you will be contented to what you have done and accept the outcome and continue living happily.

The First Grading Period now came to end but this is not a reason for us to halt in chasing our dreams. It's time for us to move on to the next chapter of our lives. Time to accept what is over and what is done. Let us continue our journey but we must not forget the memories of the past, whether it is happy or sad, because without those, we are not who we are today. (^_^)

State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III

Annually, during the 4th Monday of the 7th month of the year, the President of the Philippines delivers his/her State Of the Nation Address (SONA). Last July 22, 2013 our President Benigno Simeon Aquino III delivered his 4th SONA to inform us, the citizen of the Philippines, about the progress of our country, the current projects, the plans and the problems of our country.

In President Benigno Simeon Aquino III's  SONA, one of the topic he discussed was about education where in he focused about the ability of our country to prepare for the additional needs that the implementation of the K-12 program will require, but why is it that some school still lack on books, chairs, rooms and other school facilities. Like in our school, we don't have enough books for our subjects and also laboratory equipments even computer equipments. So how can it be that our country has the ability to prepare for the additional needs that the implementation of the K-12 program will require? If the government cannot produce all the needs of all the schools in our country today, how would they be able to produce all the needs in the future, where in there is surely a great increase of student population that will also cause demand of teachers which will lead to increase in the teachers population? Where will the government get the fund for school facilities? Where will they get the teacher's salary? I just hope that the government will be able to solve this problems because we, the Filipinos, are counting on the government.

I made this reaction to voice out my observations and my experiences towards the problems of our country in line with education. As a student, I really hope the government will give importance to this matter because education is the only key of our country to improve and can even overcome the other countries.

"Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama Nating Wakasan."

We are now in the month of July and we all know that it is the month of nutrition where in we celebrate and give importance to our nutrition but this does not mean that we will only give importance to our nutrition during the month of July, it should be everyday. And the theme of this year's Nutrition Month is "Gutom at Malnutrisyon, Sama-sama Nating Wakasan." so let us all eat healthy foods so that cases of famine and malnutrition will decrease and hopefully it will be eradicated.

In our locality now a days, there are individuals who are experiencing famine and malnutrition which is caused by poverty. Because of poverty they can not eat three times a day which is the cause of famine and malnutrition of an individual; malnutrition can also be caused by not eating healthy foods. So we must help one another because no one can solve this problem but ourselves. The government must also make a move and rise the fund of the Department of Health (DOH) so that the DOH can work more to solve the said problem and for the improvement of our country.

Our nutrition is essential in our daily lives so we must take care of ourselves in order to do our daily activities. We must help hand in hand to solve the case of famine and malnutrition in our country.

Letter to the President of The Philippines

Dear President Aquino,

Mr. President, I am one of the concerned citizens of the Philippines. I wrote this letter to voice out all the things I'd like you to know. I am a student and I'd like you to know that I am not satisfied with what I am experiencing in our school. This school year is my last year as a high school student and I am hoping that there will be some improvement in our school before I leave my high school life.

As students, we all need enough school utilities especially in public schools but the government is failing to supply all our needs. These caused problems like lack of books, rooms, chairs, tables among others. And my question Mr. President is how can we adapt to the K-12 here in the Philippines if the government can't produce all our needs? My only concern Mr. President is that we need an active government to pay attention to all of our problems and to produce the needs of our schools and the whole student body. It is important for these needs to be met in order for us, the students, to be able to focus to our studies and eventually improve our country as far as education is concerned.

Being a concerned student, I'm really hoping for some improvements, because we, the students and the next generation, are the key to our country's success.

Very respectfully yours,
Jolina Luna
